It can be easy to look through a catalog and find a home you’d like to build but sometimes finding the right place to put it is more difficult. The ideal situation provides a flat building area where a home builder can pour a standard foundation, and therefore there are no additional foundation costs. Given the right circumstances, you don’t have to shy away from land that is sloped. It may just be worth that second glance.

Building on flat, level ground is certainly the most desirable and the most affordable option, but with additional site preparation and foundation work, homes are built on hillsides all over the Northwest. Depending on the severity of the slope, an affordable lot price may offset the additional development costs.
